Chris Mashburn is currently the Percussion Director for Springtown High School; a position he has held for 6 years. In that time, the SISD percussion department has experienced tremendous growth and success. In 2012, Springtown High School Band was a UIL 3A State Marching finalist. Also in 2012, the drumline won first place at both the Plano Drumline Contest and the Lone Star Drumline contest. Both are some the largest and most prestigious contests of their type in the country.
Other recent accolades includes numerous best in class drumline awards, multiple 1st division ratings at both the Region and State UIL Solo and Ensemble levels, a top 3 placement in every percussion ensemble contest entered for 6 years, and numerous region and area level percussionists. Recently, Springtown placed it first All-State Percussionist in 14 years. Prior to coming to Springtown ISD, Chris served in similar roles in some of the top districts in the country, including: Mesquite ISD, Rowlett ISD, Keller ISD, and Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD.
He is an active clinician and arranger for various other bands throughout Texas. His arrangements have been performed at all levels of marching competitions, including UIL State Marching and BOA Grand National Championships. Chris graduated from Richland High School, Tarrant County College, and is working to complete his BS through Tech Tech University. He has had the great pleasure of studying with Bill Watson, Louis Boldrighini, Scott Reddoch, Melody Ann Mallow, Jim Van Zandt, Warren Dewey, Jim Yakas, and Chris Hanning.
While not teaching, he can be seen performing with The Robert Gotcher Band and other various local bands. He lives in Fort Worth with his wife Jennifer, a CPA for Oak Hill Capital Management, and his two dogs, Coco and Max. Chris is a member of TMEA, PAS, and is endorsed by Vic Firth Sticks, Evans Drumheads, and Dynasty Drums and Percussion.
