One of the world’s most sensational drumming groups, Switzerland’s Top Secret Drum Corps, was performing for the third time in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Their energetic and unpredictable style has drummed its way into the hearts of Tattoo spectators and they are now one of the most sought-after groups of their kind.

Top Secret was formed in 1990 by a group of enthusiastic, talented young drummers from the Swiss city of Basel. The city has a rich drumming tradition and is known for its annual carnival called Fasnacht. Basel is said to have over 3,000 active drummers who perform at traditional events such as Fasnacht and various parades associated with the city's guilds.

Basel drumming style is militaristic, derived from the military drumming drills of Swiss soldiers dating back to the Middle Ages. But Top Secret’s drumming style is much more upbeat and playful compared to the traditional marching tunes played in Basel and their show includes drumstick juggling, a drummer’s duel, flag spinning and other humorous details.

Top Secret's members are highly dedicated drummers with diverse day jobs – bankers, civil servants, factory workers, etc.

Top Secret has performed around the world: in England, Wales, China, South Africa, USA, Australia and in countries all over Europe, including France, Germany and Denmark.
