kurry seymour

Kurry Seymour, Is the Director of Percussion Studies and Assistant Director of Bands at Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Kurry holds the BM and MM in Percussion Performance from West Virginia University. At CCU, Mr. Seymour instructs the percussion studio and various percussion ensembles, percussion methods, the Spirit of the Chanticleer Marching Band Drumline, and the Coastal Carolina University "Epiphany Indoor Drumline." He is also a past instructor with the Carolina Crown and has been a member of the Crossmen. Kurry is the director and founder of the "CATALYST Percussion Group". Groups under his direction have performed at Virginia Beach Festival of Music, Clemson University, Ohio University, and West Virginia Univeristy, and he has performed at PASIC and MENC conferences, and has presented clinics as the South Carolina PAS "Day of Percussion." He was also the Percussion Coordinator for the Sudler Award winning "Pride of West Virginia" Mountaineer Marching Band, and is constantly in demand as a marching percussion writer, adjudicator and clinician. His principal teachers include Dr. Ellie Mannette, Dr. Tim Peterman, Dr. Paschal Younge and John Rozum. Additional study has been with She-e Wu, Tim Adams, Paul Rennick and Mark Thurston. Mr. Seymour is an endorser for Vic Firth and Manette Steel Drums.
