Tre’
Balfour
Tre’ got his start marching at the age of 8yrs old for the American Legionnaires Drum Corps from Prince George’s County in Maryland. After relocating to Wichita Ks, he started marching with The Continental Ambassadors Drum & Bugle Corps. It wasn’t until he started studying privately with K. Dean Walker and Paul Bowman from Oklahoma City is when he realized that he needed to learn more than just marching percussion. While attending Langston University, he majored in music and that’s when he learned even more of the performance aspect of music. Upon leaving Langston, Tre’ was fortunate to become a principal member with a signed band from Oklahoma City by the name of After Five Jazz. After that band broke up, Tre’ then moved to the Los Angeles area and that’s when his performing career took off. As a freelance musician he quickly became noticed. Recording with Boyz II Men, All-4-One and being a sideman on major television shows, Tre’ also toured with artists such as Color Me Badd, Michael Bolton, Gladys Knight, Kashif and performed as a cast member of Disneyland’s Lion King Parade. Tre’ never left his roots of the activity. Everything he learned from those artists he passes down to the youth. In 1999, Tre’ was brought on as caption head of percussion at Littlerock High School. He applies his teaching philosophy of “Life Through Drumming, Drumming Through Life” and “Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost” to each group of kids he works with. Tre’ is also one of the founding members of West Coast Performance Association, and is proud to be a member of the Dynasty family.
